Education

In 1985, I graduated from Weaver High School. I attended Jacksonville State University and graduated with a BS in Education in 1990.  In 1994, I earned my Masters in Education in the area of mild learning handicaps.  Since this time, I have continued my education through seminars and professional development opportunities.



Experience

My experience in education has always been in the Oxford City System. I have been teaching special education for the past 24 years.  Oxford is a great place to raise a family. Education is the heart of our community.



Bio

Hello! My name is Melissa Love. I love the Oxford City School System. This is my 25th year teaching in this system. There is not another system that compares. Special Education is my heart and soul. My students are important to me. We work together as a learning community. I have the most wonderful job in the world!

I am a Weaver graduate-1985. After graduating from Weaver High School, I graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1990 earning a BS-Ed in the area of special education with a major in MR and an secondary degree in ED. In 1994, I received my Master's degree (MS-ED) focusing in the area of mild learning handicaps. I have volunteered helping the ARC of Calhoun County with various fund raisers. In 1991-93, I served on the Board of the ARC of Calhoun County. During my years in education, I have attended various workshops and continue to earn CEUs to enhance my education and create a productive learning environment for my students.   

I am married to Jeffery Love. We just celebrated our 25th wedding Anniversary on August 4, 2015. He is employed by Oxford Lumber/Ace Hardware. We believe in working in our community. We attend Golden Springs Baptist Church.I have two children. My son is Mason. He is a 2014 graduate of Oxford High School. Mason is 20 years old and attends JSU. He is in the Army National Guard and works a full time job. Mason is extremely busy but enjoys all aspects of his life.  My daugher Kate attends Oxford High School. She is a sophomore. She enjoys shopping, running, and spending time with friends. She is a member of DD's which a high school sorority which focuses on community service. 

I am honored to be employed by the Oxford City School System. Life is too short to be unhappy. I am fortunate to have a terrific family, job and community. God bless you!
